Ram 2500 vs Ford F-250: Taking Towing to the Next Level

Ram 2500 Towing Capabilities

One of the trademark features of any truck is its towing capacity. You want to know your vehicle is ready for anything and can handle the task at hand. Any competition between trucks is going to start with how much your vehicle can handle.

The 2021 Ram 2500 is able to provide two engine options that can offer the towing capacity you need. To get the most towing capacity, choose the available 6.7L Cummins® Turbo Diesel I6 engine. This will provide 850 lb-ft of torque and up to 20,000 pounds of towing capacity when properly equipped.

In the Ford F-250, you also get your choice of powerful engine options. However, the diesel engine in the Ford F-250 only provides a maximum towing capacity of 18,500 pounds.

Ram 2500 vs Ford F-250: Powerful Standard Engines

When you choose a truck, you want to consider the engine, especially if you’re considering towing capacity and performance as top priorities. Both of these vehicles offer a hard-to-beat lineup of engines.

The 2021 Ram 2500 has a standard 6.4L HEMI® V8 engine that gets a best-in-class standard 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. It also comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission with full electronic operation and on-the-fly shift mapping. This helps provide plenty of power in every trip you take.

The Ford F-250 certainly offers similar capabilities in its lineup. However, its standard 6.2L V8 gas engine falls short of the Ram’s performance, getting 385 horsepower. It also offers a 6-speed transmission instead of the 8-speed found in the Ram 2500.

The 2021 Ram 2500 comes with an available 12-inch Uconnect® 12.0 NAV touchscreen infotainment system. Similarly, the Ford F-250 also has an available 12-inch screen.

The Ram 2500 also provides split-screen capability, allowing you to select and control your entertainment and features, potentially viewing navigation and entertainment at the same time. The Ford F-250 is not able to provide this feature.

Both vehicles also offer features like Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility and Bluetooth® capabilities, allowing you to stay connected to your device through the touchscreen and accessing your favorite shows, music, navigation, and more.

To get even more out of the entertainment, the Ram 2500 is able to provide an available 17-speaker Harman Kardon® Premium Audio system. The Ford F-250 only offers a 10-speaker system with subwoofer from Bang & Olufsen.
